So I am sitting in the hospital room and figure this is a good time to continue.
So we get home from her tonsillectomy and get her settled in, we make it home in time to intercept the kiddos so they get to see their mom right off. She is hurting bad and just trying to swallow is a chore. She is eating the popscicles and sherbet, keeping her throat really moist. She has a rough go at it.
Friday I am working from home because I have to take Emily to the orthodontist Friday afternoon
Saturday I took Hannah to basketball practice, which she is really good at by the way. Took off work so that could stay home with my girl and take care of her.
Sunday church. Did I mention that we have an awesome church family? Well if I haven't, we do! Been blessed so much by these people. Had Angela bring my kiddos home. She has been making us pies and cakes and all kinds of goodies. She is an awesome neighbor too!!
Monday took Em to another Dr.
Tuesday took Stephanie back to Dr.
Wednesday got home a little early because Thursday is Thanksgiving and just about as soon as I got home, Hannah comes in and says, "Daddy I need to go to the ER and get some stitches." The girl wasn't lying she fell and cut her hand open. She is so tough didn't even cry. Didn't have a lot of gas so we went to North Metro. Thanks ER folks for getting her in and getting her stitches!!
Thursday morning Steph is still running fever and guess what, Emily has the stomach bug. Needless to say we did not go anywhere for Thanksgiving. We usually go to my sisters house or Steph's dads. This year we were going to try and hit both. But you know what I can find the blessing in this too.....We didn't have to go anywhere and we got to just sit there and not do anything. It was kinda awesome. Thank you Lord for the rest.
Friday and throughout the weekend, Steph hurts, a lot. I went to at Ropers, (which is the best place to eat in the world, yes that is right, the world), and work. And do you know what my wonderful wife does even though she is hurting and not feeling good? There is a little boy in 5th grade that rides the bus with my kids and comes over to play with Clay, he wants to spend the night so Stephanie lets him. This is not an 'easy' kid but he is very respectful at our house and because he knows what is expected acts pretty good. Anyway Steph shows him attention, and some love and lets him stay. He feels very welcome. I love my wife so much, she is so giving.
Saturday I go over to moms and get her stuff out of the attic for my mom and run some errands for her.
Sunday, go to church and teach those wonderful KidLife kids. They are awesome and we love them so much.
Monday have to take Steph back to the Dr. They did an X-ray of her chest they did see a little bit of stuff in there and send her back to the ENT just to make sure she is healing correctly. 2 Drs this day...whew! The ENT said that her throat looked fine and gave her a stronger antibiotic. (Not sure I have mentioned, but since October this is the 6th cycle of antibiotics she has been on) They are not working.
So we get to Friday. I am at work and my girl calls me. She is running a temp again and just sounds horrible. Short of breath cant talk long. I told her to call Jody and Greystone Medical Clinic (awesome clinic) and find out if she can be seen. She said that she could. So I head home and pick her up and take her in. Jody is looking her over and is trying to get in touch with her Neurologist but ends up speaking to a Hospitalist and she gave him everything that she has done and kind of the story over the last couple of months. He said that he would direct admit her.
So now here we are at Baptist Springhill and the Drs are doing a lot of tests, not normal tests, which is good because what she has going on does not seem to be normal. I just pray that God totally heals her body and totally takes everything away. Everything that has gone on has happened for a reason we are here right now in this spot for some particular reason. Stephanie said to me today, I am not sure what I am suppose to learn from this storm yet. I said sugar, I don't either, but this storm may not necessarily be for you, it may be for the rest of us. She said I know.
Now lets talk about how awesome my kids are. They are totally awesome. Emily had an all region band tryout this past weekend that she was excited about a couple of weeks ago and then just decided that she did not want to do it. After questioning why, she said because I don't want to add anything else to what we have going on. OH MY GOSH!! My heart was so filled with joy because of the selflessness, but at the same time sadness because my daughter felt like she had to give up something to make our lives easier. She also was not able to go to a party on Friday night because we were on our way up to the Hospital and you know what she said to her mom? It's ok
Hannah and I after her basketball practice one day this week, went looking for basketball shoes. We stopped by one store and they were $62 Nike basketball shoes. She saw the price and she said, I think we need to look around some more. Lets go to KMart and Wal-Mart. Really I thought to myself, you are 12. My heart just keeps being blessed. We found a pair for $22 at Wal Mart and she said. I think these are the ones that I need because I am not really even sure if I am going to make the team next year. Seriously, you are 12 and you think like an adult. And you are aware of our money situation and you are OK with it. Love that girl
Clay, that boy never ceases to bless and amaze me. His love for his mom and his sisters and me is beyond measure. God has really given something special to that boy for people. He is so understanding to be 10 years old and so caring about other people. He wants to make sure that is Paw Paw and his Giggy love God.
Emily has taken the lead on doing our daily devotional with her brother and sister because that is what we do. I am literally tearing up right now because I am realizing how blessed I am to have the children God has given me. We are so blessed to have the family members help us when we need it Steph's parents, my mom. We are so blessed to have the friends we have come and do for us whatever we need. We are so blessed to have the neighbors we have to take care of a whiny puppy because my beautiful girl has made him rotten while she has been sick by holding him all of the time. We are SO BLESSED to have the church family and NLC in Cabot that we do, and a Pastor that really loves us. God I am overwhelmed right now with all of your blessings in this one major trial. There are so many things that we could look at that could get us down. Window that is duct taped on the van, truck that one door that won't open and a transmission that is about to go out, health, all of the things to do in a day and not enough time to do them, medical bills, med bills, finances. But you know what, NONE of this gets me down. Every need that we have has been met, our shelter, our transportation, food, clothing. We have been blessed with so much more than our needs and our God loves us so much.
Don't get me wrong, I do get frustrated, we get frustrated as a family. But then God does things that reminds us he is there. Whether it be friends after taking their son to the hospital because their foot is broke asking if they can bring us a burger; old high school friends coming up here to take care of business so that I can run some errands, or people just being there to listen.
Where ever you are right now thank God for it. I don't care what you are going through, God has brought you here and He will pick you up love you. I wish I could really express more right now but I think the best way to explain it is to say, that I do not have words to describe Him and what He does for us on a daily basis. I love him and and I fall short everyday on giving him the praise he deserves, but he still loves me despite my shortcomings.
Stop and praise him right now.
I love you family!
